Best Green Smoothie Recipe Ideas with Healthy Protein

Be honest: you want to be healthy, but sometimes it’s not so easy to force down that side of broccoli, or a big bowl of leafy greens like we know we should. If you’re having a hard time getting in all your greens, consider a green juice or smoothie instead.

Smoothies are a great way to quickly deliver needed nutrients to your body, like the carbs and protein your body needs to recover after a workout. With the addition of protein powder, you can power up your smoothie to be both a delicious and nutritious treat.

Below, I’ve collected a few of my favorite green smoothie recipes. They’re packed with leafy greens, fruits, veggies, and protein powder for a boost of fiber, potassium, and iron. So, grab your blender, and let’s cheers to your new favorite (and uber healthy) indulgence of the day!

Tropical Green Protein Smoothie

Get your greens for the day with this tropical green recovery smoothie packed with spinach and sweetened with delicious tropical fruits like mango and banana. Protein powder and nut butter are both optional but make this smoothie more nutrient-dense with healthy fats and protein, making it a great option to fuel up and stay satisfied post workout.

This is my personal favorite green smoothie because it’s so easy, consistently delicious, and quick fuel to kick start my day or get in post-workout nutrition. You can easily swap out the mango for berries, throw an avocado in for creaminess, or use coconut flavored almond milk for a twist. I hope you enjoy my ‘daily’ green smoothie!

Vanilla Green Tea Matcha Protein Shake

Craving something slightly sweet and extremely refreshing? Mix it up with this fun green tea matcha shake rendition that is so light you could sip on it all day long (seriously it’s dangerous). Who doesn’t love an afternoon tea or coffee with a homemade granola bar or healthy baked treat? In my opinion, this blended drink is the perfect afternoon pick me up.

It hides all the grittiness from your protein powder, delivers on flavor, and provides a serious boost of healthy nutrition and greens. The best part? You won’t even be able to taste the difference from your favorite blended green tea matcha from a coffee shop!

In Closing

When you’re struggling to fit in enough protein and greens into your day, don’t forget you can always fall back on a delicious smoothie to save the day! Green smoothies are a great way to sneak in healthy fruits, vegetables, and even protein in you and your family’s diet.

With the smoothies above, feel free to change added ingredients to your preference (in fact, I hope you do). I love to add in flax seeds or chia seeds if my body needs more fiber, change up the milk I use, or even tweak spinach for kale or other greens. Each smoothie is completely customizable, and only you know what your body needs more of.
